Liamena takes victory

Heading to the track for her second career start, two-year-old Not A Single Doubt filly Liamena produced the goods at Wyong on Tuesday, scoring in the Happy 1st B’day A Antees Maiden over 1100m.

Trained by Allan Denham, Liamena was first up from a spell and her tenacious long head victory was indicative of a filly with fight, a quality that will aid her throughout her career.

Consigned by Corumbene Stud on behalf of breeders Mr G Severino, Mr A Altomonte and Mr R Strati at the 2012 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Liamena was passed in, so she was then retained to race by her breeders with George Altomonte also in the ownership.

Out of the unraced Luskin Star mare La Marama, herself a half-sister to Listed winner Beauty School, Listed winner Petite Dane (dam of the Listed winner Danish Silver) and the stakes placed Come To Order, Liamena is a half-sister to the Listed Winter Stakes winner Mr Unforgettable.

La Marama has a Flying Spur rising two-year-old that was sold at the 2013 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale to Eden Racing, as well as a Dylan Thomas colt, and is currently due to foal to Darley’s Group One-winning son of Lonhro in Denman.

Corumbene Stud is having a stellar period with their two and three-year-old’s at the moment which includes this season’s Group One Golden Slipper winner Overreach, stakes winners Bennetta and Ichihara as well as Dancer’s Rose and the impressive Watabout, the winner of her last three starts.
