Ichihara too speedy

Winning her fourth stakes win for connections, General Nediym filly Ichihara jumped away well from the barriers and that was where she stayed, winning the Listed Gosford Guineas today over 1200m.

Ridden by Hugh Bowman, the Corumbene Stud bred and owned filly added this race to her already impressive resume which includes the Group Two Magic Night Stakes, the Listed Heritage Stakes and Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes.

The Corumbene Stud home bred now takes her career record to 6 winning performances and two placed efforts from 13 career starts for $542,350 in prizemoney.

Based at Wyong, trainer Allan Denham was impressed with the victory.

“This is a nice race to win with great money, Denham said.

“What a year (owner-breeder) George Altomonte has had.”

Out of the Whiskey Road mare Cut A Dash, Ichihara is a half-sister to Isurava and Au Chocolat, both Listed winners.

Cut A Dash is a three-quarter sister to the Group One One Thousand Guineas winner Whisked, the dam of the great stayer Tie The Knot, as well as fellow stakes winners Dream Ballad and Hood.

Cut A Dash was covered by Exceed And Excel last season, the same sire of Corumbene Stud’s Group One Golden Slipper winner Overreach .
