Corumbene’s Surround

Set to start the race day favourite, General Nediym filly Bennetta from the Grahame Begg stable has won her past three starts including the G2 Light Fingers Stakes where she defeated fellow Corumbene-bred filly Ichihara (pictured below).

Stepping up to the 1400m for the first time will be of no concern for the filly as her two-and-a-quarter length victory two starts back on Magic Millions day was over 1300m and there was no signs of her stopping on that occasion.

With James McDonald in the saddle, the filly is likely to settle back in the field which is her usual pattern of racing, and produce a good turn of foot to come home late.

The second of the Corumbene Stud-bred runners in the field is the Dubai Destination filly Campania, a winner of her past two starts over 1400m and 1500m.

Trained at Hawkesbury by Gary Frazer the filly is stepping up in class, but her record suggests she deserves her place in the field at stakes level and with Kathy O’Hara doing the riding; this filly should get every chance.
