Champion Two-Year-Old
Held on Thursday, October 4 in Melbourne, the Corumbene Stud-bred and raced Overreach (Exceed And Excel x Bahia, by Snippets) was awarded the Champion Two-Year-Old title from the Darley-bred and raced Guelph.
A winner of the pinnacle of juvenile racing, the Group One Golden Slipper, the Gai Waterhouse-trained Overreach was dominate in her victory of the race, defeating Sidestep by one-and-three-quarter lengths with Sweet Idea in third and Guelph back in forth.
Having never finished out of the top three in all her starts at two, Overreach’s juvenile record is;
1st – Group One Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) – beating Sidestep and Sweet Idea,
1st – Group Two Moet & Chandon Stakes (1200m) beating Villa Verde and Spurrendous,
1st – Listed Widden Stakes (1100m) beating Everage and Brilliant Bisc,
2nd – Listed Debutant Stakes (1000m) to Villa Verde and beating Kuroshio,
3rd – Group One Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) to Guelph and Scandiva
Set to return in the Autumn after having two trials during the spring, Overreach’s dam Bahia produced a cracking Redoute’s Choice colt on September 21 – pictured below.
